Mediation

We believe mediation services should state their fees and expenses in order to provide a degree of certainty to prospective clients. Furthermore, we price our service at a cost we hope will make it as affordable as possible.

Mediation fees are usually divided equally between the parties unless, by prior agreement, the fees are being paid on a different basis.

Unlike a dispute process where both sides may feel obliged to engage a solicitor, no large retainers or payments on account are required in order to commence mediation with a mediator. Each mediation session is paid for at the beginning of the session and you have full knowledge of the costs throughout the process.

Unity Mediation offers an initial, pre-mediation consultation free of charge. This takes approximately thirty minutes, allows time to

explain how the mediation process will work, answers any questions you may have and, most importantly, establishes that mediation is an appropriate resolution process for your dispute. [It may be possible to conduct this initial consultation by telephone, separately with each of the parties, and to arrange a date, time and venue for the mediation to take place.]

Then, at the agreed date, time and venue, when the parties have signed a formal, voluntary agreement to mediate, payment is made and the mediation process will begin.

The hourly rate for separating couples is:£120 (£60ea)

The daily rate for other mediation categories is:£500 

Expenses:

The only expenses that the parties will have to cover are venue booking costs, refreshments if required, and any reasonable travel expenses to be incurred by the mediator.

Venue:

Where the agreed venue is reasonably close to the mediator there will be no travel cost passed on to the clients. All expenses will be agreed in advance with the mediator and paid by the clients together with the mediation fee at the commencement of the mediation process.

Groups:

Prospective clients should note that if the mediation process involves a large number of parties, or requires the use of more rooms or facilities at the mediation venue, more extensive costs are likely to be incurred. However, these will be confirmed and agreed before the mediation is scheduled.
